Intro

This is a step-by-step guide on how to setup your ctsmail.net email account in Microsoft Outlook.

System Requirements

  • Operating System Version: Windows 7, Windows 8, or Windows 10
  • Office Install version: Office 2010, Office 2013, or Office 2016

Instructions: Existing Email Setup

This instruction set is for existing customers that are part of the cutover on May 14th, 2018. Use these instructions if you were using Outlook prior to our cutover and need to just update your Outlook with the new server information.

  1. Open Outlook.
  2. Click File in the upper left-hand corner of the window.
  3. Click Account Settings.
  4. Then click Account Settings from the dropdown menu.

  6. Click More Settings in the lower right-hand corner.

  7. Click on the Advanced Tab.
    1. Click the checkbox for This server requires an encrypted connection (SSL/TLS).
    2. Change the Outgoing Server (SMTP) value to 587.
    3. Change Use the following type of encrypted connection to auto.

    4. Click OK.
  8. Click Test Account Settings.

  10. Click Next.
    • It may attempt to test account settings again.
    • If it does, click Close.
  11. Click Finish.

Instructions: New Email Setup

Use these instructions if you have never used Outlook before and want to now use Outlook to access your email.

  1. Open your Control Panel.
  2. Search for the term "mail" in the search bar in the upper right hand corner of control panel window.

  3. Open the Mail32 program.
  4. Click Show Profiles.

  5. Click Add.

  6. Name your new profile.
    1. Hint: use your email address e.g. test@ctsmail.net
  7. Click OK.

  8. Select Manual setup or additional server types. (Radio Button)
  9. Click Next.

  10. Click on POP or IMAP.
  11. Click Next.

  12. Settings
    • Name = Your Name
    • email = Full Email Address
    • Account Type = POP3
    • Incoming Mail Server = mail.ctsmail.net
    • Outgoing Mail Server = mail.ctsmail.net
    • User Name = Full Email Address
    • Password = Your Password

  13. Click More Settings.
  14. Click on the Outgoing Server tab.
    1. Check My outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication.
    2. Select Use the same settings as my Incoming Mail Server. (Radio Button)

  15. Click on the Advanced Tab.
    1. Check the This server requires an encrypted connection (SSL/TLS) check box.
    2. Change the Incoming mail server to 995.
    3. Change the Outgoing Server (SMTP) value to 587.
    4. Change Use the following type of encrypted connection to auto.

    5. Click OK.
  16. Click Test Account Settings:

  18. Click Next.
    • It may attempt to test account settings again.
    • If it does, click Close.
  19. Click Finish.

  20. Select your email address in the Default Profile dropdown.
