Speed Overview

Although CTS Telecom provides up to 1 Gbps (1,000 Mbps) download bandwidth at our Optical Network Terminals (ONTs), achieving a full 1,000 Mbps on speed tests is difficult at this time due to a variety of factors, including limitations of commercially available routers and devices, "data overhead" of software such as anti-virus protection, and the construction of internal networks and the internet-at-large.

Although the entire Internet is not equipped to handle speeds up to 1 Gbps, CTS Telecom offers that amount of bandwidth because we are on the leading edge of Internet technology, and we believe the Internet will eventually catch up to our level of service. In the meantime, regardless of the number on a speed test, we can confidently state that we are offering the fastest, most reliable Internet connections in our area.

Wireless

At this time, wired connections will provide the fastest speeds as wireless technology simply cannot in most cases meet the same speed standards as that of wired. Wireless speed is dependent on several factors, such as the processor of your computer or other device, your device's distance from your ONT, and the number of devices connected at once.
