CTS offers a residential virtual phone line called MaX UC. This phone line can be accessed via an app on your cell phone. If you are a Home + Executive customer, this service is available to you at no extra charge.

The following information is also available in a printable document. Contact a CTS representative to have a copy emailed to you.

Getting Started

Ensure your Device is Compatible

MaX UC for Mobile works on:

  • Android phones and tablets with 4.2 and up
  • iPhone 3GS, 4, and 4S or iPad running iOS 10.0 or later

Login Information

You will need to have your CTS phone number and password to start using MaX UC. If you don't have this information, call CTS at 269-749-4411.

Download and Install the App

Go to your device’s app store and download the MaX UC app. Once installed, follow the prompts to set up the service. As indicated above, you will need to enter your phone number and password, which is a 10-character (minimum) code with letters (upper and lower case), numbers, and symbols. Make sure to select CTS Telecom Inc as your carrier. Other setup questions will be based on your personal preferences on how you would like to utilize the app. To have the ability to switch calls to your own cellular network (for example, if you are in an area with a poor wifi connection), enter your own mobile phone number when promted. Please give the app permission to use your microphone in order for phone calls to perform properly.

Exploring MaX UC

MaX UC is like having a different number to be able to use on your mobile device. You can make and receive calls, put calls on hold, transfer calls, and make three-way conference calls. Additionally, if you have multiple people in your household who want to utilize this number on their devices, they may install the app and log in as well.

Profile & Settings

In the upper right-hand corner, you can click on the circular icon to get into your settings. From within this menu, you can:

  • Add a picture to your account
  • Change your password
  • Change your MaX UC ringtone
  • Select how calls will be made
    • Via MaX UC or your mobile device
    • Using wifi only or using cellular data

Making Calls

To make a call, select Phone on the bottom, and tap the green keypad button in the lower right corner. Enter the number you are calling into the MaX UC dialer exactly the same way you would dial it from your desk phone. Or, from the contact list, simply tap on the contact and touch the number you would like to use to call the contact. If the person you are calling has caller ID, they will see your CTS phone number.

Receiving Calls

When someone calls your CTS number, the MaX UC app offers you the choice to accept or reject the call. If you have multiple users who have downloaded the app and logged in with your CTS number, the call will be presented to each device simultaneously.

During the Call

While a call is in progress, the following options are available:

  • Mute - mutes your microphone so you can still hear them, but they can't hear you.
  • Keypad - if you need to press keys during your call.
  • Audio Source - change whether the call uses your phone earpiece, an external speaker, or Bluetooth.
  • Hold - puts the other end on hold. If you subscribe to Music on Hold, they will hear your music/message.
  • Favorites - quickly choose one of your favorite contacts to transfer the call to or conference into the call.
  • Add/Transfer - choose from your full list of contacts or enter a number to transfer (consultative) or conference.
  • More - contains the option to Switch, where you can move the call to your mobile network.

Switch the Call to Another Device

If the call has poor audio due to an unreliable wifi or mobile data service connection, you can touch the Switch icon and select This device (cellular) to move the call to your regular cell phone. Remember that the call will now start to use your mobile phone’s data connection. Alternatively, you can choose to push the call to another of your devices running MaX UC, such as your desktop or your iPad. Touch the Switch icon and select Another device to push the call to whichever device is most convenient.

Call History

Tap Phone at the bottom and you will see your Call History.

Tap Phone at the bottom and then the Voicemail tab toward the top to be able to listen to your messages. You can choose to call the contact back, text them (using your mobile phone number) if it’s an external contact, or chat via MaX UC with a member of your business group, or, under the More option, you can add/view the contact, mark the voicemail as unheard, delete it, or forward it on to someone else. To set up your voicemail, from the MaX UC app, call *98. The first time you access this box, it will walk you though setting a new PIN and recording your greeting. If you ever need to update your greeting in the future, you may dial *98.

Access the Settings menu by clicking the circle in the upper-right corner. Here you can adjust the following settings to your preferences:

  • Add an avatar image.
  • Change your password.
  • Select a new ringtone.
  • Indicate if you would like to only utilize MaX UC while on wifi.
  • Select which contacts to display in your contact list.

MaX UC Desktop

MaX UC also has a desktop application which allows you to make and receive calls over a computer with your same CTS number. If this is a feature you would like to use, please contact CTS at 269-746-4411 for further instructions. This is a feature that is offered at no additional charge.
